The blocking point Unter Hauenstein was a border fortification of the Swiss army during World War I. It is located in the municipal area of Läufelfingen and Hauenstein-Ifenthal. It was one of the three main axes (Unterer Hauenstein, Oberer Hauenstein, Birstal) that had to be defended by Border Brigade 4 of the Swiss Army.

During the Second World War, the Hauenstein blocking point was one of several blocking points laid out one behind the other. The pass, which was easily navigable, was of great strategic importance, as the enemy could get directly to the Swiss plateau and the Olten traffic junction from there

The blocking point was decommissioned in 1994 with the dissolution of Border Brigade 4. Today it is considered a military historical monument of national importance.

The tank traps on the pass are still clearly visible today.
