The 500 hectare Rickelsbüller Koog nature reserve stretches between the Sylt dam in the south and the Danish Margrethe Kog in the north. Its northwesternmost point is the northernmost point of the German mainland. The former mudflats and salt marshes were transformed into inland water areas, reed zones and marsh meadows by embankment in the early 1980s. On the hike around the Koog you will encounter numerous species of birds in all seasons: above all many species of ducks, wild geese such as the barnacle goose and greylag goose, but also waders. Of these, lapwings and black-tailed godwits are also breeding birds in the area. The sea eagle is also a frequent visitor.

You can take part in the diverse bird life from the dykes and from an observation hut. So don't forget your binoculars!
