The famous Kulmbach painter and honorary citizen Michel Weiß was born in the beautiful half-timbered building on September 19, 1867 as the second of six children.
He did an apprenticeship with the sculptor Haferkorn, and the Plassenburg pastor Heinel gave him drawing and painting lessons. At the age of 17 he went to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
In 1892 he settled down as a freelance painter in the house where he was born.

Michael Weiß was a painter born in Kulmbach who lived and worked there. His birthplace is located at Oberhacken 6 in Kulmbach. It is a half-timbered house that has been preserved to this day. Michael Weiß was an important Kulmbach painter who captured the city in his works. His paintings often depict the "old" Kulmbach and provide insights into the city's history. He was an honorary citizen of Kulmbach. Valuable artifacts by Michael Weiß were recently discovered in the historic bathhouse in Kulmbach.
