The Bustedt estate is a moated castle that was founded in 1415 by the knight Heinrich von Ledebur. However, he placed this on the land of the Herford women's monastery, which led to a feud that he lost. The castle, which was secured with several moats, passed to the House of Ravensberg just four years later and was managed by different families. When it lost its military importance, Gut Bustedt was converted into a moated castle. Today the facility is used by the community of Hiddenhausen as a biology center.Around the moated castle there are several animal enclosures for goats and poultry, ponds and even a herb and kitchen garden. The estate can also be visited from the inside on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is when the aquarium enthusiasts meet and maintain several beautiful aquariums in the residential tower. Anyone who uses the front entrance can at least see it through the glazed door. The wooden door of the residential tower can be opened to allow a view.
In between, Gut Bustedt can also be visited at other times.
