The fishing and skating pond was artificially created in 1972 on what was then Bustedter Wiesen. It was actually intended for recreational purposes at the time, but is now a nature reserve. However, the bank can still be accessed at the fishing piers and at one head end. The other end is blocked off with chains and some secret paths are even fenced off. Nevertheless, there are many beautiful views of the water from the official paths.
