The small river Kall makes its way from its source east of the High Fens for more than 25 kilometers through the Kall valley to its confluence with the Rur in Zerkall. The name is derived from the Celtic word "kallos", which means dark, black. The explanation for this naming provides a look at the characteristic dark brown colored "Venn water", which flows (even if only in a weakened form) in the river bed of the Kall. The Kall is a 25.9 km long tributary of the Rur in the Eifel in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).
The source is located north of the town of Konzen, which belongs to Monschau, on Belgian territory. It flows past Simmerath and is then dammed together with the Keltzerbach to the Kalltalsperre, it crosses Simonskall a few kilometers further. The Kall flows into the Rur in Zerkall (municipality of Hürtgenwald). (Wikipedia)
