The Old Castle of Kamnik, sometimes the Upper Castle (Oberstain) is located on a lookout hill east of Kamnik and is a very popular excursion point. Today, only the ruins of the castle are at the top, which was first mentioned in the 12th century. Next to the ruins of the former castle, there is also an inn with an excellent offer of food and drinks. From the top we have a beautiful view of the Kamnik and Savinja Alps, Kamnik, Gorenjska and Ljubljana basins. With good visibility, the view extends all the way to Snežnik and Triglav.
