The Monastery of the Virgin Mary Theogennitor is very close to Mohos and is built on a unique location overlooking the Stalis coast. The monastery, although new, has gained a good reputation largely because of its founder, Father Apostolos. Apostolos was a former monk of the monastery of St. John in Anopolis and in 2009 he was expelled and then founded this monastery.

The monastery was famous throughout Greece in 2009 for the story of a young Greek actress, Natalia Lionaki, who moved to the monastery for 7 months. All Greek programs showed the despair of the actress' mother, who blamed the monk for eliciting her daughter from monasticism, but Natalia supported Apostolos. Since then flocks of people have come to the monastery and many of them regard Apostolos as a modern day saint.
