The Untereggatsweiler parish was first mentioned in a document in 1275. This parish came to the Premonstratensian Monastery of Schussenried in 1391 and from there it was supplied with Reichenbach and Allmannsweiler by Fathers, since 1936 it has belonged to Braunenweiler.

The original parish church was consecrated to St. George, later St. Magnus was also venerated (the patron of the Schussenried monastery). In the 16th century this church was demolished because it was dilapidated and replaced by a wooden church, built by Abbot Oswald Escher (1575-1582).
