A few kilometers before Vienna was the Anninger toboggan run near Mödling, "the most modern and greatest artificial track in Austria" (Illustrated Sportblatt January 7, 1928). The story began with the foundation of the Anninger toboggan club in 1907. The club expanded Anninger Strasse into a toboggan run so that Austrian championships and international races could take place on Mödlinger's local mountain.
