Völkermarkt Reservoir

Beautiful lake that was created by the damming of the Drava.

The Völkermarkter reservoir is located in southern Carinthia and was created by the impoundment of the Drau. It is about 21 kilometers long, at its widest point 1.5 kilometers wide and mostly 3 to 5 and maximum 24 meters deep (Devil's Islands). Energy is gained at the Edling power plant.The lake is also important as a recreational area, for water sports (rowing), cyclists, hikers (round about the reservoir about 5 hours) and especially for the anglers (bream).
