The Wehebach Dam was built in the 1980s and serves as a flood protection and drinking water supply for the region. The Wehebach Dam is fed by several streams, including the Wehebach, which gives it its name. From the dam wall, you have a magnificent view of the lake. Swimming and boating are prohibited, however.

Due to its location in a wooded area, the reservoir offers the opportunity for mainly ornithological nature observations.
To the east of the dam are the remains of the ring wall of a Celtic refuge from the Iron Age.

The Wehebach Dam in the municipality of Hürtgenwald is the third largest and probably most original dam in the entire North Eifel region. It offers hikers numerous hiking trails and impressive opportunities to experience the element of water. It can be reached on foot from both the towns of Großhau and Kleinhau. The Wehebach Dam has been in operation since 1983 and was built to protect the Wehe and Inde valleys from flooding and to provide drinking and industrial water. Strict water protection regulations apply. For this reason, leisure activities in and around the Wehebach Dam are completely prohibited. This means that nature can develop undisturbed. Numerous beaver castles can be admired at this dam.
Still impressive today: the former country road number 11 between Kleinhau and Schevenhütte runs right through the Wehebach Dam and became impassable due to the damming of the Wehebach Valley.
