From the dam can be great tours in the Schevenhüttener forest and the Hürtgenwald undertake, great location for a tour start or destination!

The dam harmonizes with nature. There is an indescribably diverse flora and fauna, coupled with a wonderful silence. The scary thing is the water level of the dam (end of July 2019). The lowest target level is the "winter" jam target, followed by "summer" and "high water". The water level is, however, about 6 m below the winter storage target, the feeds also carry little water.

Due to its location in a wooded area, the reservoir offers the opportunity for primarily ornithological nature observations.
To the east of the dam are the remains of the ring wall of a Celtic refugee castle from the Iron Age.

The path through the forest is very easy to cycle. You can also shorten on foot via a staircase.
