In the middle of the Serrahner beech forests, between the quiet lakes and mysterious moors, lies the Steinmühle Youth Forest Home. It is an educational center of the Müritz National Park Office and wants to inspire young people in particular for nature and wilderness. There are not many places where nature is so diverse and contrastingly preserved as in the vicinity of the stone mill. Varied beech forests stretch to the north. Embedded in it are many untouched moors. To the north, the landscape opens up through the water surface of the Grünower See. Meadows and fields follow. From a geological point of view, the former water mill is located in a landscape that was strongly influenced by the events of the last ice age.
