Spyker Castle now houses a prestigious hotel. The castle cellar contains a restaurant where you can dine by candlelight. The castle has a lovely park, an old willow avenue, a meadow where an arts and crafts market is held every Monday in the summer, and the wedding tree, an old overgrown willow.

The following is said about the wedding tree: In ancient times, two families in Spyker were in enmity with each other. Now it came to pass that the son of one family lost his heart to the charming daughter of the other family and desired her for the bride. This thought was so unbearable for the parents that the girl was promised to another. The night before the wedding, the girl managed to escape from her parents' house and meet her sweetheart at the designated place, who had been waiting for her there every night. The lovers fell weeping and miserably complaining about their misfortune. Straight ahead there was a flash of lightning and an old pastor, who was never seen again, appeared. He took the hands of the two lovers and trusted them before God. Then the newlyweds slumbered gently. The next day, to their great astonishment, they were joyfully received by both parents. But at the place of this wedding, the wedding tree grew. It is still said today that he brings eternal happiness and eternal fidelity to the couple who walk through the midst of their hearts full of love on the wedding day. (Sob, where have I laid my handkerchiefs back)
