The Orth Islands are a particularly dynamic habitat. They are located a few hundred meters downstream from the popular Orther Uferhaus.

While the first four islands already rise high out of the river and are lined with stately poplars and willows, the Danube is working on creating new gravel areas at the end of the island chain. Over the years you can observe the creative power of the river here. Real and original virgin forests grow on these islands in the national park.

Two of the side arms were reconnected here with the Danube. Here the river forms gravel islands, tears embankments and pushes driftwood in front of it.
