The castle in Schwaigern in the district of Heilbronn in northern Baden-Württemberg was built from 1702 by the Lords of Neipperg in place of an earlier manor house and expanded to its present size after 1850.
The palace, located next to the town church on the northeastern edge of the historic center of Schwaigern, was built in the Baroque style for Field Marshal Eberhard Friedrich von Neipperg (1655-1725) from 1702 in place of the earlier Schwaigern Castle, which was destroyed in 1690. The castle was expanded and rebuilt in various ways, with the plans for the expansion being drawn up by Gottlob Georg Barth as early as 1835, but not being implemented until 1847 to 1871. The west wing was built in 1850, the south wing in 1866. The palace church, built in the neo-renaissance style, was built from 1860 to 1871 with the help of Christian Friedrich von Leins. [1] In 1898 the palace was rebuilt under Count Reinhard von Neipperg (1856-1919). In 1984 the roof structure was extensively renovated.

As for Juri's remarks, it would be interesting that the castle is still inhabited and managed by the Count von Neipperg and his wife (Otto von Habsburg's eldest daughter - that is, Sissi's great-granddaughter).
The father Joseph Hubert von Neipperg died in 2020 at the age of 102.
