In 2016, this tree was 150 years old. It was King Wilhelm I of Württemberg, who helped Tuttlingen to this botanical curiosity. Because of their size and resistance to forest fires, the king sent for a pound of seeds. The seedlings were distributed to the various forestry departments of the kingdom - including to Tuttlingen. "Sequia gigantea" is the scientific name of the royal jubilee, but popularly it is called Wellingtonie.Source: junge-donau-magazin.de/tuttlinger-mammutbaum-wellingtonie
