The parish church of the Assumption of Mary was built around 1500, at that time Stausebach was the last stop for pilgrims to the grave of St. Elisabeth in Marburg.
On the church wall behind the wayside shrine we find stations of the cross embedded in the plaster. They are replicas of a 17th century terracotta Way of the Cross.
The church was thoroughly renovated inside and outside in 1998-2008.
If we walk around the choir of the church, we are standing on the left of the church wall in front of a war memorial for those who died in the place in the two world wars.
