This cross is quite impossible to miss. It is thought to be dating back to medieval times, and is one of the many crosses on the Moors, erected for a variety of reasons (key road junctions, commemoration of victory in battle, burial sites, and more). The name is believed to be after the de Mauley family of Mulgrave Castle.

Situated to the north side of Browne Howe Road, which must be one of the widest tracks in Cropton Forest. Gentle incline eastwards and very easy going.
