The fort not only offers the best views of the Costa Blanca but is also steeped in history.
Its construction dates back to the 16th century with the main function of defense and surveillance. Due to its distance from the coast, it became inefficient and King Philip III ordered it to be demolished. Today you can still see ruins of its arches, bear, bastion and cistern as well as some remains of the walls. In 1997 it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.

The path crosses an uncomfortable quarry and goes down to the Fort de Bèrnia, a Renaissance-style military castle built in 1562 by order of Philip II to control the incursions of Ottoman pirates. The fort was carrying out defensive missions until 1612, when it was demolished. In the ruins there are remains of the moat in the shape of a four-pointed star, three arches on the lower floor, remains of the walls, the chapel, the cistern and other structures of the original castle. The trail connects with the PR-CV 7 in the castle grounds and continues towards Casas de Bèrnia along an excellent trail for running. The path passes through the Coll de l'Orenga and continues along the western slope of the Bèrnia mountain range, flying over the rocky waterfalls of Morro de l'Aspre and its breathtaking bottomless slopes.
