The Züthpen- or North Cemetery was at its inauguration in 1825 still on the northern outskirts of the city Heide, today it is very central. With the partly very old tombs and the Züthpen monument in the middle, it is also a piece of Heider town history. Its old trees provide a soothing park character and invite you to linger.

The cemetery, which was established in 1825, was built where, according to tradition, the reformer Heinrich von Zütphen was executed in 1524 after being abducted from Meldorf and a mock trial. The old part of the cemetery is surrounded by a row of linden trees and is divided into four areas by two linden tree avenues.

At the intersection of the avenues there is an obelisk as a memorial to Heinrich von Zütphen.

Nearby there are older gravestones and a split boulder that is said to stand on the site of the pyre.

The North Cemetery of Heide has an interesting history. It was created at the place where it was wrongly assumed that the reformer Heinrich von Zütphen was supposed to have been killed in 1524 after being abducted from Meldorf and in a sham trial. At the intersection of the four lime trees there is now a monument.
The grave of Theodor Griebel can be found in the south.
