Here begins the climb (to be done on foot) that leads to the Chia Tower. The tower is made of limestone and was built in 1578 to defend the mouth of the Rio di Chia from pirates. It stands near the beach of the same name on top of a promontory, on which the acropolis of the Punic-Roman town of Bithia was once located.

Historic defense post of the Genoese occupiers in southern Sardinia. The Torre Chia is part of a whole series of fortification towers along the Sardinian coastline. Absolutely worth seeing!
