At least 250 victims of the Unterriexingen camp, an external unit of the Natzweiler / Alsace concentration camp, are buried in the concentration camp cemetery in Unterriexingen, on the mountainside above the road to Oberriexingen.

At least 500 mostly Jewish prisoners from the Auschwitz concentration camp were used for forced labor in the Großsachsenheim air base, in the construction of tunnels for an underground factory, but also in clearing work after air raids in Stuttgart and the surrounding area. At the beginning of April 1945 150–200 Polish prisoners were added, survivors of the Warsaw Uprising. Many prisoners, vegetating miserably, were transferred to the nearby so-called »sick and death camp Großsachsenheim« (see Sachsenheim) and are buried there. The Unterriexingen camp must have been one of the 60 most horrific subcamps. Hundreds died and starved to death, and two years after the war two mass graves were found with 250 unknown dead, for the remains of which the concentration camp cemetery was laid.
