Next to the former town hall, located on the Katzbach in the immediate vicinity of the Gasthaus Krone, there is a sculpture called Mondbuzzer on a leafy square.
If you stroll through the village in the evening after stopping at the Krone and enjoying 2-3 quarters, you will come to the Mondbuzzer. Buzzing means cleaning in High German, i.e. the moon cleaner. The figure comes from the fact that the Tiefenbachers have been called the Mondbuzzers for many decades.
You have to look closely at the figure created by the artist Heinrich Zibuschka. According to legend, the people of Tiefenbach wanted to thoroughly “buzz” = clean the rising moon disk. Therefore, the figure stands on a wine barrel and stretches towards the moon armed with a broom, here a round lantern. The buzzer's clothing and shoes reflect the village's farming past, and the barrel pays respect to the wine-growing pioneers. A pointed cap on his head and yet, questionably, a bow tie around his neck. The artist tied this around as a sign of the figure's increased self-confidence.
