Really always nice. And if you're lucky, it's even better without thousands of tourists.

Crown Prince Maximilian, later King Maximilian II, had the Schwanseepark laid out as an English garden in the middle of the 19th century by the garden architect Carl August Sckell and later by the famous garden and landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné as an addition to his Hohenschwangau Castle. After a period of neglect, attempts are now being made to restore the park to its original state with numerous gardening interventions. The centre of the Schwanseepark is the eponymous Schwansee, which is heavily framed by reed areas, particularly on the north-eastern side, but also offers beautiful views from the south-western side. From some points in the park with specially created sightlines, the two castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein can be seen in a slightly elevated position.
