The Blue Quarry on the outskirts of Ehingen was built at the end of the 19th century, when the Ehingen cement factory used to mine material for its production. Since 1980 a nature reserve, the quarry offers frogs, toads and all native pig species as well as the grass snake and various types of barbecues and dragonflies habitat.
