Königshafen on Sylt, located in the north of the island near the town of List, is a true idyll and a paradise for nature and bird lovers. The Königshafen is known for its picturesque bay in the Wadden Sea and is home to the bird sanctuary Uthörn, from which you can observe numerous birds every day. The entire island serves as a breeding and resting area and is protected so that it is not allowed to be entered. Since 1985, the Königshafen has been part of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park, which underlines the importance of this area for nature conservation.

The history of the Königshafen goes back a long way and is closely linked to its function as a natural harbor. Already in the Middle Ages, the Königshafen served as an important contact point between the Danish Skagen and the mouth of the Elbe. The bay gets its name from its use as a natural harbor and its legal status as part of the Royal Danish enclave of Listland. In the 18th century the harbor began to silt up and lost its importance for shipping. Today the Königshafen is primarily a popular area for windsurfers and a valued nature reserve.

For visitors, the Königshafen not only offers the opportunity for bird watching, but also the chance to experience the unique landscape of the Wadden Sea up close. The ideal way to get to Königshafen is from the Natural Forces Experience Center by following the Mövenberg dike north to Ellenbogen. This route not only offers impressive natural experiences, but also the opportunity to enjoy the special atmosphere of this part of Sylt.

The Königshafen and the surrounding nature reserves are an impressive example of the protection and preservation of Sylt's unique nature. They invite you to enjoy the peace and beauty of the landscape and at the same time develop an awareness of the importance of nature conservation.

You don't pay a fee on the private road by bike. By car, mobile home or scooter it is 6 to 8 euros.

A little bumpy in the meantime, but you don't pay a fee with the bike.
