Best Hiking Routes to Gratwanderung
Tips
  • The ridge walk is easy and can also be done with children. There are a few places that are more exposed, but they are mostly secured with chains and railings. The view is simply fantastic.

  • On this ridge hiking trail, with good visibility, you have a breathtaking view of the central Swiss mountains and lakes. You can also see the diverse alpine flora. You can see it at its most beautiful side at the end of June and July. If you're lucky, you can see wild hay making on the extremely steep slopes towards autumn.

  • Very nice, easy tightrope walk, definitely hike from the Klingenstock to the Fronalpstock, the path is very heavily committed and crossing is not always easy

  • We started in Stoos towards Fronalpstock...since it was warm and sunny that day, we wanted to end our tour at the hut.

If you do the tour in the other direction...you should definitely take plenty of water with you, as there are no shops or similar on the way. The tour is one of my favorite tours...the view of Lake Lucerne is a dream.

  • Very well developed ridge path with many benches along the way. Also feasible in fog - with the advantage that you are then alone 😉 Only with a view is nothing 😕

  • The path has been recently redone and is easy to go

  • Hiking trail for people who are free from giddiness. Great view, sometimes a bit steep right and left.

  • Actually a beautiful ridge hike but there were so many other hikers who had the same idea as us. Nevertheless, you have a beautiful view. Just have to do this. The Stoos in general is a nice destination...

  • The path is very well developed, probably also for the many Sunday tourists. I think the large tables and benches, in the best places with a view, are awesome.

  • As a round trip to Stoos, can also be shortened by train

  • On the tightrope walk, which is not particularly demanding, you have to overcome a few stairs that make the short climbs easier.

  • One of the most beautiful tightrope hikes you can do with children.
The mountain railways have adjusted their prices and are offering day passes and multi-day passes for the region.

  • beautiful tightrope walk with a wonderful view. Definitely start from the blade stick, because crossing can not be easy, despite the well-developed path.

  • Very nice tightrope walk, my recommendation is definitely: do it during the week and walk up from Stoos 😉

  • Definitely the highlight of our hike from Stoos to the Klingenstock and then a tightrope walk to the Fronalpstock. It goes up and down and besides you have the most beautiful panorama.

  • Overflowing on the weekend, the ridge path is very easy to walk on. Many steps and chains make walking safe. I hiked from Fronalpstock towards Klingenstock and ran against the stream. It seemed to me that most people would do it the other way around. It remains the same effort, from both directions it goes first downhill and then steeply uphill again. However, the paths are wide enough to get past each other. If it gets too much with the crowds at any time between Fronalpstock and Klingenstock on foot back to Stoos, but the way goes downhill steeply and goes so powerful in the legs.

  • Great tightrope walk with a magnificent mountain panorama. The way is not too exhausting and in the end there is a good restaurant waiting. If possible, you should go during the week as otherwise it has a lot of people which is sometimes annoying.

  • Both the blade and the Fronalpstock can be reached on foot or by cable car. The ascent and descent are not very special, but the ridge path is well worth it, because you have almost all the time a great view of Lake Lucerne and the mountain panorama.

  • Who appreciates walking in geese marching order with felt 10,000 others, gets his money's worth. Everyone else: yes, doing it once is a must, then it has become.

  • It is recommended by the staff of Klingenstock direction Fronalpstock to walk because some sections are narrow and especially on the weekend many hikers are traveling.

  • For those who are afraid of a “tightrope hike” or who are traveling with small children or very elderly people, a “mini circular hike” around the Fronalpstock is also worthwhile. There is a large children's playground right next to the mountain station, older people can also eat in the restaurant with a large terrace, and hiking fans can use the time for a short, around 45-minute "walk". The panorama remains equally spectacular!
