On the occasion of the 900th anniversary of St. Märgens, the path was re-framed. The Grenz-Steine hike runs along the footpath from the core town of St. Märgen to the Thurner district. This path also marks the historical border between the two former communities of St. Märgen and Hinterstraß. This is also the watershed between the two natural areas of the large Black Forest valleys Elz and Dreisamtal. Each stele is the inspiration for a century. Reliefs, symbols and sculptures illustrate the various themes. The order of the boundary stones is not chronological. This is to make it clear that the story is not yet over.
