The search for creative professions led Kissel to train in metal design, silversmithing and wood processing in the field of interior design. This was followed by a visit to the drawing academy in Hanau and training in design and sculpture at the University of Design in Schwäbisch Gmünd. After studying in Scandinavian studios, the first new developments in the field of kinetic art emerged. Kissel has been working as a freelance kinetician since 1970. Several of the artist's projects were presented on television and documented on film.
