Pferdsfeld had been inhabited since around the year 700, a first documented mention dates back to 1295. The Leinenborn in the east of the town of Bad Sobernheim was selected as the resettlement site.
A commemorative plaque, a fountain and the Paul Schneider memorial plaque, which commemorates the pastor Paul Schneider ("Preacher von Buchenwald"), who was murdered in the Buchenwald concentration camp in 1039, commemorate the former site.
