At Blokhus Beach, Blokhus' landmark stands on top of the dune, majestically looking out over the sea.

The distinctive red Blokhus sea mark was erected in 1884 along with 25 other sea marks on the west coast of Jutland to warn sailors of the treacherous coast and prevent ships from running aground.

Each sea mark was given a unique look so that sailors always knew exactly where they were.

In 1944, the Blokhus sea mark was blown up by the Germans, and it was not until 2006 that a faithful copy of the original sea mark was rebuilt.
