In the summer of 1956, the road cycling champion Fausto Coppi came on holiday to the island of Elba and used to stop at this natural spring to drink during training. On the marble stele that commemorates the passage of the Campionissimo is written: "1960 - 2010, here the champion quenched his thirst for fifty years on the run".
