The Protestant church was built from 1783 to 1787 as a tolerance prayer house (small windows, no tower, no bells, no direct access from the main street) on the white bastion of the old city wall of Stadtschlaining. You can still see this from the apse that has moved out of the corner. The church originally had around 1000 seats because it was initially built as a center for the Evangelicals in the Oberwart district. The organ was built in 1788.
