Where you are now standing in front of an impressive red brick church, there was once a modest Romanesque church built in the Middle Ages around 1100. As the church became increasingly dilapidated over the centuries and too small for the growing population, the church you see now was built in the middle of the 19th century.

In the middle of its tower hang two massive bells, which were already in the free-standing bell tower of the old church. The smaller bell was cast in Malmö in 1689, the age of the larger one is unknown, but it is estimated to have been cast in 1789.
