Hiking
an action by seven South Moluccan youths to raise awareness for the independence of the South Moluccas. The hijackers hijacked a train between Assen and Zwolle, held passengers hostage, shot the driver and two passengers, and surrendered almost two weeks later, following negotiations and pressure. The event, which began on December 2, 1975, resulted in the deaths of three people and had a major impact on the Moluccan community in the Netherlands, directly (and partly) leading to a second, bloodier hijacking at De Punt in 1977.
