Villa Bonn/Town Hall (1901/05) - Kronberg i.T. 🚴♂️Between 1901 and 1905, Frankfurt banker Wilhelm Bonn had Villa Bonn built. The Bonn family had already had a summer residence on the site since 1864, which was later expanded through purchases. The house was initially used by Philipp Bonn and his sister in the second generation. After Philipp Bonn's death, Wilhelm Bonn inherited the Kronberg estate. The building, in the style of the period, features Art Nouveau elements, and a park was laid out around the house based on English models. Wilhelm Bonn died in Kronberg in 1910. The family had largely oriented itself towards England, and so his son, Sir Max Bonn, finally sold the property to the city of Kronberg in 1922, which has used it as the town hall ever since. The present Kronberg Town Hall was converted for practical purposes at that time. The villa's former reception and banquet hall became the city council's meeting room, and the former dining room became the mayor's office. The former kitchen now serves as the mayor's anteroom. The outbuildings on the opposite side of Katharinenstraße have since served various purposes (vocational school, prison, public bath and shower, residents' registration office, public order office, German Red Cross station). 🚴de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villa_Bonn_(Kronberg_im_Taunus)
