"The Föhr-Mitte pumping station on the Oldsum dike, with a capacity of 5 m³ per second, is of central importance for draining the western marshland of the island. The upstream storage basin serves to optimize pumping operations. According to Hark Ketelsen, Managing Director of the D&S Association, the basin was last renovated in 1984. Recent measurements have again revealed silt deposits almost 2 meters thick in the central area..."
