Even the name "Auf dem Töps" suggests that it is a plateau. In fact, the Töpsheide is about 100 meters above sea level and, when the weather is clear, you can even see as far as Hamburg-Blankenese.

At the edges of the plateau there are partly deeply cut erosion channels that form a varied structured heathland. Sheepfolds and bee fences enrich the heath-typical landscape.
