Mountain Biking Highlight
Did you know that there were volcanoes in the Thuringian Forest? There was! The Great Beerberg was once one. These are the remnants of it and at 982.9 meters they are still impressively high - the Great Beerberg is the highest elevation of Thuringia. At the top is a rare bog, part of the biosphere reserve Vessertal-Thuringian Forest and so strictly protected that you must not enter it. After all, the Rennsteig is close by and, with a maximum height of 973 meters, is not bad either.

Great view over Suhl and the entire region. To the right of the viewpoint you can walk a few meters to the highest peak in Thuringia. Then only go higher on the snow head tower.
