Hill of Samon is one Of the greatest Hills going towards the Sui
September 23, 2020
The hill of Samont or Samon is a mountain of the Montseny massif that has a height above sea level of 1,272 m. It has a double peak, very close to each other. At the highest peak (1,272m), we can find a geodesic vertex (reference 294109001). The lowest peak is known as Pleta del Samon.
It is included in the Challenge of the 100 summits of the Federation of Excursionist Entities of Catalonia. feec.cat/activitats/100-cims/cim/turo-del-samon
The name comes from the name of the nearby farm, Samon, documented at least since the 14th century.

It is the highest point in the municipality of Sant Pere de Vilamajor, erroneously attributed to the Pi Novell hill. It is located in the northern part of the municipality, under the Levantine foothills of La Calma and on a slope above the Tordera valley, so it is much steeper than the southern area.
There are Cambrian-Ordovician materials (slate levels with different degrees of metamorphism). We also find outcrops of Devonian chalcoschists and limestones, together with Carboniferous materials (at the base, slates, and above, limestones with clayey intercalations). This last outcrop, however, only appears in the west, under the Samon Hill.
Between the hill of Samont and the hill of Moixa, the stream of Vilamajor is born.
