Discovered by chance, a manor in Stemmen. Nicely renovated.

It is used as a farm and is partly privately inhabited. There are guided tours of the estate and festive events are held, including a potato and wine festival.

The estate is located north of the B 65 at the foot of the Stemmer Berg. In the Middle Ages, the Hellweg in front of the Santforde ran along the route of the federal highway, a trade route that connected Hildesheim and Braunschweig with the cities of Westphalia. In 1258, the Mariensee monastery acquired a farm in the village of Stemmen. Landdrost Arndt von Wobersnow acquired this farm and another farm in 1619 and united them. Duke Friedrich Ulrich bestowed the privileges of a manor on the newly created court. It held patrimonial rights over the school and the church. The peasants of the village did not belong to the manorial estate. In 1671, the von Reden family acquired the estate and kept it until 1795. The von Rössing family came into possession of the estate when Curt Hildebrand Freiherr von Rössing married the daughter of the previous owner and royal Prussian state economist Friedrich von Kaufmann (1822–1895). From 1877 Baron von Rössing managed the estate.
