Falkenberg with its castle and a good Zoigl, always worth a little break.

Falkenberg Castle lighthouse project in the Upper Palatinate! With the museum, conference center and the castle hotel.
In 1154 a "Pilegrin de Valkenberch" was first mentioned. Pilgrim was probably Ulrichs von Liebenstein's brother and came from Eger. Both were originally ministrials of Margrave Diepold III. from Cham and Vohburg. The soon empire-free family of the Falkenbergers can be traced back to the 13th century, the last representative being the knight Konrad II von Falkenberg, who appeared in a document for the last time in 1252.

Falkenberg Castle is one of the castles in the Stiftland with the earliest documented mention (1154). Due to its location on a rocky outcrop high above the Waldnaab, it gives the impression of being somewhat impregnable when viewed from the river. The town of Falkenberg is an ideal starting point for hiking or cycling trips to the Waldnaabtal nature reserve and the Waldnaabaue. Also of interest is the communal brewery, where "Zoigl" is regularly brewed and served. During the summer, the town hosts several garden parties and a traditional community festival with very friendly and hospitable people.
