The gallows of Marsbach

High above the Donauleiten and Marsbach Castle, a mountain peak rises. On its summit, three mighty linden trees spread their wide, gnarled branches, visible from afar. In the middle of these three giant trees stands a stone shrine. This place is the Scheiben, the place of execution of the high and blood court of Marsbach. This court once had jurisdiction over most of the current Rohrbach district, and the court records of Marsbach tell us how many human beings have lost their lives under the linden trees. To the north and west, the forest surrounds the eerie place of execution. The graves of those executed are in the dark fir forest.
