The Wöstenesch water mill was the only one of the three mills that could be preserved for posterity. The Prues family leased this "upper Egger mill" for several generations. In 1970, the last miller of that era, Walter Prues, gave up his job due to lack of profitability. The cultural monument owes its good condition today to the local history and tourism association, whose main goal when it was founded in 1975 was to preserve the structure of the rather dilapidated mill building.
