Schloßstraße is the main connection between Gundelsheim's old town around the church below and Horneck Castle enthroned above the old town. Along this street is the Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas, the old hospital (since 1832 a pharmacy), the old school and town hall, various cafes and inns, the Transylvanian Institute and at the upper end the magnificent gate to Horneck Castle.
The way up here over the cobblestones of the Schloßstraße is very steep and strenuous, but the magnificent view from the castle over the Neckar and the city of Gundelsheim makes up for all the effort. Due to the slippery cobblestone surface on Schloßstraße, particular caution is required on the way from the castle to the old town - and especially when it is wet - otherwise it can quickly become dangerous.

The paved (rough) Schlossstraße takes you from the valley up to Horneck Castle, from where you have a beautiful view of the Neckar Valley and across to Guttenberg Castle. There are a few old buildings worth seeing to the left and right of Schlossstraße: church, pharmacy, half-timbered houses, etc.
