Several of the emergency churches have since been demolished. In addition to the Protestant church in Bakum there are / are identical churches in Delbrück: Former blessing church (prototype type D, initially built in Heidelberg and then translocated to Delbrück, later disco, etc.), Peiting-Herzogsägmühle, Rheinbach (demolished in 1969), Königswinter- Oberpleis, Bawinkel, Neufahrn in Lower Bavaria, Wertingen (demolished in 2006), Steinfeld (Oldenburg) (1979 converted to Ahlhorn, now: St. Petri to the fishponds), Neuenkirchen-Wettringen, Sögel, Geeste-Dalum, Emstek (demolished in 1971), Garrel (implemented in 2009), Neuenhaus (spelled), Viechtach, Algermissen, Nuremberg-Schafhof, Neuss-Reuschenberg (today Gemeindehaus), Overath, Nordhorn.

There are many different Protestant "emergency churches". The church in Bakum, of which 14 identical copies exist, is part of the so-called Notkirchen program (various church forms A to D), which was developed by the architect Prof. Otto Bartning (1883-1959) in the post-war years for the Protestant church. The churches were built around the year 1950 in a serial prefabricated construction method for Protestant refugees who had found a new home in Catholic regions (eg in South Oldenburg, Emsland, Westphalia and Bavaria). The church in Bakum belongs to the type D of the emergency churches. Form and construction of the buildings - as well as the reduction of the interior decoration to purely functional elements - are part of Bartning's profound architectural idea, which saw the origin of the church as the meeting place of believers. "We build a tent for the people in the desert ...".
Bakum took in 1945/46 1100 Protestant refugees from the eastern regions and received the permit from the II. Notkirchenprogramm. The church has been preserved comparatively authentically, and the rectory cultivation has been preserved (now used as a community room)! 1983 new floor covering. Originally preserved are the altar podium, the altarpieces with their two hinged doors and benches, altar with cross, the windows with clear glass, the lighting wreath with incandescent bulbs and also the original Liedertafel. A special feature in Bakum is that the wing doors were painted by a local artist with motifs on the life of Christ and are now used liturgically by being closed in Holy Week. Also preserved is the roof rider with bells, but since 1960 no longer by hand, but is rung electrically (the hole for the bell train is still visible in the ceiling).

Far away from main roads forest roads, dirt roads everything. Who wants a tour to drive without the noise of the main roads that I can recommend this tour here. I myself sometimes no longer wust where I just found myself and that only 2o km away from the hometown The tour is not necessarily for road bike, but good for touring with MTB or E bike
