On the way from the Mitterkaseralm to the Watzmannhaus there is a commemorative plaque in the forest shortly after the hut for two poachers who were shot on November 3rd, 1841 in the Watzmann area. It holds something of mystical, adventurous life from the past of the poor mountain people.
