Inside, remains of human activity from over ten thousand years ago were found. Furthermore, fossils of rhinoceros, lions and mammoths have been found. In more recent times the cave was used as a necropolis. The findings are on display at the Antonio Salinas Regional Archaeological Museum in Palermo.
