The landscape in the Neuer Hagen nature reserve is unique. A nice open area with lots of views. In late summer the colorful Besenheide, in winter when there is snow it is a beautiful cross-country skiing area.

  • The largest of the mountain heaths in north-west Germany, which are rare in Europe, is located near Willingen in Niedersfeld. The wide, tree-poor landscape turns into a pink carpet of heather flowers in late summer. The protected area is rightly one of the natural treasures of South Westphalia.
Many paths run through here and numerous benches invite you to take a break.

  • The Niedersfelder Heide is the largest mountain heath in northwestern Germany. A visit is especially worthwhile in late summer when the landscape turns into a pink carpet.

  • "... The New Hagen near Niedersfeld is the largest high heath in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The extraordinary landscape has its own fascination. Heath and raised bog are home to rare flora and fauna. The 800 meter high area is on the border with Hesse on the northern slope of the Clemensberg and has been a nature reserve since 1955. Heidschnucken graze there, act as "biological lawnmowers" and thus ensure the preservation of the heather. Birds like cuckoo, capercaillie and goat milkers build their nests. Hobby biologists can even discover arctic and alpine plants in the Neuer Hagen nature reserve. ... "

  • An absolute highlight in the Sauerland, especially when the heather blooms here in August, it is a magical place! And if you are lucky, you will meet the shepherd with his flock.

  • Very nice hiking trails in the Hochheide. A trip to Siggi's hut provides the necessary inner cooling.

  • The nearby hut is great for resting. In the NSG Neuer Hagen there are also benches everywhere to rest.

  • The Niedersfelder Hochheide is worth seeing in every season. In summer the flowers shine in the sun and in autumn clouds of mist spread over the heather. Many hiking trails lead through the heather.

  • Incredibly beautiful landscape. Nature lovers get their money's worth here. Cell phone junkies will get annoyed if the reception is sometimes poor.
Hiking trails and cross-country skiing trails are signposted. Also suitable for XC bikers.

  • A landscape with rare flora - created by humans 3000 years ago. Today, efforts are made to preserve this artificial landscape.
